Long Son Pagoda (also known as White Buddha Pagoda) is recognized as one of the oldest ancient temples in Nha Trang. It is home to the largest outdoor Buddha statue in Vietnam, which has been recorded in the Vietnam Guinness Records. Located at the foot of Trai Thuy Mountain in Nha Trang City, Long Son Pagoda was originally established in 1886 under the name Dang Long Tu. It was founded by Venerable Thich Ngo Chi (1856–1935), dharma name Pho Tri, who served as the abbot. He was born in Vinh Xuong, Khanh Hoa, and had participated in the anti-French resistance movement in his youth before leaving secular life to become a monk.
In 1900, after a severe storm caused significant damage, the pagoda was destroyed and later relocated to its current site for reconstruction. In 1936, the site was donated to the An Nam Buddhist Association and has since become an important center of Buddhism in Khanh Hoa Province to this day.

How to Get to Long Son Pagoda
Long Son Pagoda is located at 20 23/10 Street, Phuong Son Ward, Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province. Visitors can choose from several transportation options to conveniently reach the site.
If you are departing from central Nha Trang (near Tram Huong Tower), you can follow the route: Le Thanh Ton – Thai Nguyen – 23/10 Street to arrive at the pagoda. For those traveling from the northern area of the city, a suggested route is to take Highway 2/4, turn onto Tran Quy Cap Street, and continue onto 23/10 Street, near Nha Trang Stone Church.
Alternatively, tourists can rent a motorbike from hotels for around 150,000 – 200,000 VND per day, allowing greater flexibility in exploring the city. Taxis are also a convenient option, especially for groups or travelers who prefer a more comfortable journey.
Important Notes When Visiting Long Son Pagoda
When visiting Long Son Pagoda for sightseeing and worship, visitors are advised to follow certain etiquette rules to help preserve the sacred and respectful atmosphere of the site.
• When passing through the Tam Quan gate, visitors should enter via the right side and exit via the left side, avoiding the central entrance.
• Dress modestly and appropriately. Long pants are required when entering the main sanctuary to maintain its sanctity. Comfortable, easy-to-remove footwear is recommended for convenience when moving around and climbing steps.
• Maintain a calm and respectful attitude within the pagoda grounds. Walk and speak softly, and offer prayers sincerely without speaking loudly.
• Do not touch Buddha statues, climb structures, or interfere with any objects inside the pagoda. The bell should not be rung without permission.
• Offerings should be pure and simple, such as fruits, flowers, incense, candles, tea, or vegetarian food. Meat offerings are strictly not allowed, and arrangements should follow the pagoda’s guidelines.
• Incense should be burned only in designated outdoor areas, and limited inside the main hall to avoid smoke affecting both the sacred space and visitors’ health.
• When taking photos, maintain respectful behavior and avoid inappropriate or disrespectful poses.
